There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. (John 15:13 NLT)

On this 5th day of December 2013, the world witnessed one if it's purist heroes walk through the door of earthly living and into heavenly realms. What a celebration there must be in heaven right now… a man reunited with his saviour.

The world, and us, mourn the death of Nelson Mendela, but more than that, we remember and are inspired by his exceptional life… a life that made change and brought tangible hope. He was a man who truly laid down his life for his friends… one might say a type of modern day Paul.

Making a stand for equality, human rights… Not just with words, but with character defining actions… 27 years in jail, 5 years as president, an anti apartheid revolutionary, a dismantler of racism, a life time of helping others and bringing and being hope.

I'm sure he had his moments, character flaws, and like us all, issues of the heart and character to overcome… But despite those, and all the odds set against him, he got up, made a stand, and made change. So today amazing friends, take a moment to thank Jesus for this man, pray for his family, his friends, for South Africa… And be encouraged by his journey.
Nelson Mandela, from us here at pocketfuel, we honour you, are so very thankful for you and are inspired by you to live a life “worthy of the call”. Like Man “you're playing small does not serve the world. Who are you not to be great?”
RIP & immeasurable joy…
Nelson Mandela, July 18 1918 – Dec 5 2013.
